A Few Words About Silent Partners
Silent Partners is an ethics-based mortgage origination enterprise. It is driven primarily by Brian Woodland’s passion to remain relevant in an industry where bank customers can feel powerless. Decades of banking experience ensure that clients’ needs are understood and approvals for home-loan applications are pursued with tenacity.
Silent Partners was established in 2016 by Brian after retiring from a career in the banking industry. Brian joined Nedbank in 1977 and served in various roles at multiple branches across the Cape Peninsula, gaining experience in both commercial and personal banking. He subsequently joined The French Bank of S.A. (a subsidiary of Banque Indosuez, France) and performed multiple roles, including Branch Accountant, Manager’s Assistant and relief Regional Manager.
In 1991, Brian moved to Stannic Commercial, which later became Standard Bank Vehicle & Asset Finance (VAF). Again, he climbed the corporate ladder, filling positions such as Business Unit Manager: Cape Town Metro Areas, and Regional Manager: Western & Eastern Cape (Corporate VAF). Brian achieved distinctions in Standard Bank VAF, including being rated the top in the country for Customer Service and, separately, winning the prestigious overseas reward trip for exceptional business performance.
A long-time work colleague, Gary Christy, joined Brian almost immediately. Gary was a career banker at Standard Bank and ultimately took early retirement as Provincial Manager of the Vehicle and Asset Finance Division. Gary retired from Silent Partners in 2025, but remains a true friend and sounding board.
